 Tencent Records Holiday Increases In Search, E-Commerce - Total search
volumes on Tencent's interactive Q&A platform "Search, Ask" (Sousou Wenwen)
doubled during the National Day holiday, compared to last year, while 1m
Internet users searched travel information on the site, reports hc360.com
quoting Soso Wenwen sources. More than 210,000 new travel-related
questions were added to the platform during the period. Soso Wenwen has
answered 64.6m questions since it was released in June 2007, while similar
platform Baidu Zhidao has answered more than 40m questions since June
2005. Daily transaction volumes on Tencent's consumer-to-consumer ecommerce
site Paipai.com tripled month-on-month during the National Day
holiday, reports eNet citing company statistics. Pacific Epoch
 Tudou Raises Advertising Prices - Gary Wang, CEO of Chinese online video
sharing platform Tudou, recently announced that with the introduction of its
high-definition site, Hei Dou (Black Bean), Tudou would be increasing its
advertising prices. Wang also predicted that the move would cause other online
video sites and portals to follow suit, causing a relatively large increase in
advertising prices for the Chinese online video industry. Marbridge Daily
 Nielsen Forms China Web Venture - Nielsen Online has formed a joint venture
with the parent of ChinaRank, a Beijing-based publisher of Web-site rankings,
to track Internet use in China. The Nielsen Co. unit said the venture, called CRNielsen,
is the first company authorized to compile and publish standard
Internet data, such as traffic and ad-spending figures, on the Chinese market.
In its initial release of data, CR-Nielsen ranked Chinese Web-search engine
Baidu.com as the most visited site in China, with 171m unique visitors during
the second week of September. It was followed by instant-messaging service
QQ.com, operated by Tencent, with 117m visitors, and the Web portal
Sina.com, with 108m visitors. The Chinese version of Google was the fourthmost-
visited Web site, with 81m visitors during the week. WSJ
